This was a cool book that I actually ordered by mistake. The main character is named Free. She is a 19-year-old girl whose parents were hippies and still are. While on vacation, she picks up a hitch hiker named Lydia who tells Free that she is a widow, but she is actually running away from an abusive husband. There is a 52-car pile up on the freeway which kills Lydia. Free tries to help a young man named Jamie and finds a gym bag with almost a million dollars in cash in his car. When he dies from his injuries, Free decides that this is the perfect opportunity for her to escape from her life. She steels Lydia's identity and the money from Jamie. Soon she is being hunted down by Lydia's abusive husband as well as by the drug lord that Jamie was delivering the money to.
this sounds like a very good book. i'll try to find it.
Sounds completely improbable still that's the beauty of fiction.
